A flat-bed truck carrying two backhoes struck the Corinth Street bridge along Interstate 35E Thursday, damaging the overpass and stalling northbound traffic in Denton County.

The incident was first reported shortly before noon.

Road crews are assessing the damage to the bridge.  A small chunk of concrete was chipped off of the overpass and fell to the highway below.

Traffic is being diverted off of the highway at the Corinth Parkway exit.  Traffic is being allowed back on Interstate 35E north of the overpass.

One of the backhoes appeared to be significantly damaged by the impact.

There have been no reports of injuries.
