Threatening Call, Toy Grenade Stops DART Train

DART resumes normal service at 10 a.m.

The report of a suspicious device stopped a Dallas DART train for about an hour Monday morning.

DART said they received a call at about 8:40 a.m. from someone who claimed to have put a hazardous device on a specific train.

The train was stopped just north of downtown at the Victory Station, evacuated and searched.  At 9:45 a.m., officials said all they found onboard was a toy grenade.

With traffic to the Victory Station suspended during the scare, a bus bridge had been put in place between the Inwood/Love Field and West End stations.  The inbound TRE train was held at Union and Medical/Market Center stations.

At 9:52 a.m., DART officials said they were resuming normal schedules and they apologized for any inconvenience.

Investigators haven't determined yet who phoned in the threat.
