Second Pedestrian Killed by TRE This Week

For the second time in a week, a pedestrian was struck and killed by a commuter train that runs between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Officials said a woman in her mid-50s died Monday during rush hour in Dallas when she was struck by the Trinity Railway Express near Market Center Drive.  The commuter train links downtown Dallas and Fort Worth.

Dallas Area Rapid Transit spokesman Morgan Lyons said the train operator saw the woman and sounded the horn, but that she walked into the side of the train. The woman is the 11th fatality involving the express train since it began operating in 1996.

None of the 87 passengers on the train were injured.

Last week, a man crossing the tracks in the same area of Dallas was struck and killed. The case was ruled an accident.
