School Bus Crashes in I-635 HOV Lane

Emergency crews are working the scene of a school bus crash that injured one person.

The crash is located in the eastbound HOV lane of I-635 at Miller in Dallas.

One patient, the driver of the bus, was injured and transported to the hosptial. Officials did not release the patient's condition.

There were no students aboard the bus at the time of the crash.

The bus went partially over the median separating it from westbound traffic lanes, which is affecting both sides of the freeway.

Dallas County Schools, which operates the bus, said a security officer from the group will be on site to investigate the crash. The group operates buses for Dallas, Richardson, and Garland ISDs.

Tim Walker with the Richardson Independent School District said the bus was en route to pick up elementary school students to take them to school. A replacement bus was dispatched and those children have been transported.

RISD said they are concerned for the driver and any injuries that person may have sustained.
