Two Dead, One Critically Injured in Head-On Crash in Forney

A Dallas County Sheriff's Office deputy is among the dead

Two people were killed and one was critically injured in a head-on crash in Forney Friday afternoon.

While the cause of the crash remains under investigation, it appears two passenger cars collided along Farm-to-Market 1641 and Helms Trail at about 4 p.m.

There were a total of three men involved in the accident.

Dallas County Sheriff's Department spokesman Raul Reyna confirmed Friday night that off-duty Dallas County Sheriff's Deputy William Dittman III was dead at the scene of the crash. He was assigned to the bailiff section and had been with the Dallas Sheriff's Office for more than 22 years.

One man was taken by ambulance to LakePointe Medical Center in Forney, where he later died.

CareFlite transported another man to Baylor Medical Center in Dallas, according to Forney police he is stable and alert.

Officials with the Texas Department of Public Safety, Forney Fire Department and officers with the Forney and Talty police departments responded to the call.
