Mockingbird Station Reopened After Package Scare

DART's Mockingbird Station has been reopened after a suspicious package scare Saturday.

At around noon, both DART passengers and employees noticed a man getting on and off at several train stops, carrying a heavy duffel bag and package.

The man, wearing what appeared to be a turban and a long, reddish beard, even requested assistance from some passengers due to the weight of the package and bag.

At the Mockingbird Station, the man was taken into custody without incident and questioned while the Dallas Police Department's bomb squad was called in to investigate the items.  He was not arrested.

The station, and nearby Angelika Theater, were shut down as a precaution.

The items were later determined to be harmless and the station was reopened at about 5 p.m.
