Colorful new signs and maps dotting Downtown Dallas mark the arrival of the D Link.

D Link is Dallas' new, free shuttle service that is expected to ferry tens of thousands of tourists and locals to 14 hot spots like The Sixth Floor Museum and Dealey Plaza, hotels and restaurants, Victory Park and Klyde Warren Park, to name a few.

The free shuttle service isn't exactly free. It cost $2.5 million to the city, the business group Downtown Dallas, Inc. and DART.

People enjoying downtown Sunday said it sounds like money well spent.

"Since we've been here in Dallas, it's been tough getting around all the highways. It's like spaghetti out there," said Michael Phillips, a tourist from Memphis. "Having something here I can jump on and jump off, I can be in a central location and not have to drive and use even more gas, seems like an incredible asset for the city; would add a lot of value."

"This is the first time we've been downtown touring," said Patricia Sandel, of Dallas. "We've lived here all our lives, so that, (D Link) would be just a great thing, a great addition."

"You need it to get around because everything's spaced apart and it's beautiful. You can hop on and hop off. It's fantastic," said Jimmy Horaites, of Lewisville. "Dallas needs it."

The D Link buses will run from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
