There were no serious injuries after a multiple-vehicle crash Monday that ended with the cab of a FedEx tractor-trailer dangling over the side of Interstate 20 at the Trinity River in south Dallas County.[[330348161,L]]

The crash involving seven vehicles in addition to the 18-wheeler was reported in the eastbound lanes of I-20 at about 6 p.m.

Two people had minor injuries, including the driver of the 18-wheeler, who had to climb out of the cab above the river.

At one point, the ensuing backup stretched for about five miles to Lancaster Road.

Debra Ochoa was among the drivers stuck for three-and-a-half hours on I-20. Eventually, police allowed many of the drivers, including Ochoa to turn around and drive the opposite direction on the closed interstate in order to reach a detour.

"It was horrible. Horrible," Ochoa said. "I'm hot and sweating. I turned the car off and I was looking at my gas. I'm almost out of gas."

All lanes of eastbound I-20 were back open shortly after 10 p.m.

Police have not released additional information, including the cause of the crash.
