Drivers who use the Dallas North Tollway will be seeing orange barrels arriving very soon.
A major expansion on the roadway is expected to start in 2015.
NTTA crews will start widening the road from the LBJ Freeway interchange to the Sam Rayburn interchange. This will include adding new lanes.
"We'll actually add some roadway in the northern sections of it," said NTTA spokesperson Michael Rey. "We will restrip it and grind the shoulders down in the southern sections, everything south of the George Bush Turnpike."
The expansion is need because of an increase in traffic on the tollway. There are currently 145,000 drivers who use the tollway each day.
The project is expected to cost $250 million dollars, and be completed in 2017.

"We understand there is a lot of orange barrel fatigue in this area, so this construction will be done off peak certainly and a lot of it will be done overnight," said Rey. "We know folks are already on the roadways, and we want to make it a pleasant experience as possible through this construction period."
The expansion will not increase tolls on the Dallas North Tollway because NTTA already had money set aside for the project.
