Star Wars fans may not be the only ones to camp in line and celebrate when the empire strikes back. If the rumors prove true (and the evidence is growing), Apple will have another summer blockbuster of it’s own. Hints of a new iPhone coming this summer are becoming more frequent. Die-hard fans may want to prep their tents.

Boy Genius reported a top AT&T exec leaked word of a new model coming mid-June with improved data rates, U-verse integration and a more “seamless experience unmatched by any device.” In addition, hackers discovered references to several new models coded into the new OS 3 beta Apple previewed last week.

Also found was code allowing video recording, multiple GPU’s, faster internet speeds and a new display type. A similar report last month said Apple contracted with LG to manufacture a higher contrast OLED display which is rumored to fit iPhone specs.

Prior to MacExpo earlier this year, Apple executive Phil Schiller noted that Apple “marches to certain annual product cycles:” the holiday season around November, the educational buying season around late summer, and the iPhone cycle in June.

The iPhone 2 was released last June and became a cell phone sensation. Will we see a new one this June? Judging by Apples profits, it’s a good bet. As one blogger put it, “Duh.”

We’ll keep you posted.
