Prepare for an onslaught of year-end lists [sigh].
This one comes from Forbes, which ranked the top 25 U.S. cities, out of 525 candidates, comprising its first list of the best U.S. cities for shopping.
Straight to the point, Dallas came in at No. 2 behind Houston, while New York City barely cracked the top 25.
The 525 candidate cities, according to Forbes, contain 257 million square feet of retail space. Texas accounts for 87.9 million square feet of retail, or about 25 percent, with more being built every day and how many retailers are out there to lease the space?
Anyway, Forbes ranked Houston the better city in terms of mall shopping but gave the boutique crown to Dallas. Dallas also looks to be more expensive than Houston because of a higher price index, 200.227 to 195.165, whatever those numbers represent.
By way of information, San Antonio placed eighth on the list.
And of course, Forbes depicted Dallas shopping with a photo of a cowboys boot store. [SIGH]
