Beauty on a Budget in Dallas

A whole day of beauty for under $100? You bet.

The Aveda Institute Dallas is a little-known salon and spa that offers high-end services at an affordable price.

"We do facials, we do body wraps, we also have a really amazing hydro room that's got water services," said Thomas Kryzer, Director of the Aveda Institute Dallas. "So you pretty much can get everything that you can get if you went to any other five star spa."

The view of the salon floor from the top of the stairs is in a word -- impressive.

"When they come to the top of those stairs and they look down, all they say is oh my gosh," said student Tracy Hill.

"I thought the place was magnificent,'' said client Valencia Nash. "The way it looks is wonderful."

The salon and spa has dozens of hair stylists, manicure and pedicure stations, all stocked with top of the line tools and Aveda products.

"Really unheard of in Dallas," said Kryzer.

From the salon to the spa, each beautician is actually a student. The Aveda Institute of Dallas is a school for aspiring hair stylists, nail technicians and aestheticians. Their salon and spa stays busy. The cost of service is a huge draw.

"The bottom line for a hair cut, $15. Hair color starts at $30 to $40, and then a facial -- 60 minute facial -- is $40," said Kryzer.

"The prices are excellent, I mean unbeatable," said Nash. "This is certainly an alternative to the regular expensive prices you see at the regular salon."

Staff at the Aveda Institute Dallas tout affordable prices and quality service.

"The students are checked up with at the beginning of the service with a guest, several times throughout the service, and at the end of the service as well," said Kryzer.

For clients, going to Aveda Institute of Dallas gives a whole new meaning to the phrase, you get what you pay for.

"That's always a plus when we can save them money," said Hill.
