New Name for Woodall Rodgers Deck Park

Deck park over Woodall Rodgers named Klyde Warren Park

The Woodall Rodgers Deck Park in Downtown Dallas has a new name -- Klyde Warren Park.

Kelcy Warren donated an undisclosed amount to name the five-acre park after his son, Klyde.

The elder Warren is the CEO of Dallas-based Energy Transfer Partners and hopes the park will bring families into Downtown Dallas.

"This park is going to have such a positive impact on our city as a major center of activity," Warren said in a press release. "As a father, my hope is that families from throughout the Metroplex and beyond will enjoy the park.  As a native Texan, and someone who has lived and worked in Dallas for many years, I am so pleased that my son and I are able to play a role in bringing this incredible asset to our city."

Warren also supports artists through his Austin-based studio Music Road Records. Park organizers say future programming for the park including concerts and performances will be inspired by Warren's love of music.

Klyde Warren Park is still under construction over the Woodall Rodgers Freeway between Pearl and St. Paul streets. The park is scheduled to open in Fall 2012.
