Highland Park Village Changes Hands, Little Else

The famed Highland Park Village "shopping destination" is changing its ownership, but according to the new bosses, visitors can expect only minor changes in the Village itself.

Ray Washburne, one of the new owners, said he'll work to fill some of the recent vacancies with high-end brands like Jimmy Choo and Vince -- the latter is already signed to take over part of the space left by Harold's last year.

Washburne isn't new to the Village, either; his Mi Cocina restaurant has been there for 16 years. That should help him know the neighborhood -- and know what it needs. He's already telling Park Cities People and the DMN that revamping the four-screen theater is one goal.

It's a pretty unique situation for the sale, with both the sellers and new owners having multi-generational ties to the already historic Village. Everyone who's received quotes from Washburne hears the same thing -- he considers the Village a "community asset."
