The Gaylord Texan is preparing the way for a brand new water park in Grapevine.

Everything is bigger in Texas, and at the Gaylord Texan in Grapevine.

Construction is already underway on a 10-acre expansion of the resort. The new addition will feature a 6,000 square-foot lagoon, toddler pools, hot pools and a 600-foot lazy river.

The expansion is partially due to demand from guests. "The pool that we have is just not big enough," said Martha Neibling with the Gaylord Texan.

There will also be a zip-line, restaurants and a game area where guests can play horseshoes and shuffleboard.

The new resort expansion will only be available to resort guests. Neibling said many of those guests are not from out of town. "We've actually had more demand at the hotel in the summertime from all this local traffic that is coming in," Neibling said.

The new pools and resort area are scheduled to open in Spring of 2011. Neibling declined to put a pricetag on the project, but said it was in the millions.
