Dallas County reports there are still federal funds available to cut your energy bills.
In the 2009, Dallas County got $16.8 million in federal stimulus funds, roughly the amount the entire state of Texas gets in a typical year for weatherization.
Dallas County added contractors to weatherize 6,000 homes. So far, some 200 homes have been weatherized, and the county is on pace to weatherize 1,200 homes this year.
But the program has income limits and other restrictions.
To qualify, applicants must be at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty line, based on the number of people living in the home.
That means, for one person, his or her annual income would have to be $21,660; for two people, $29,140; three people, $36,620; four people, $44,100; five people, $51,580; six people, $59,060.
Zachary Thompson, director of the Dallas County Department of Health and Human Services, said in July that no one should assume they're not eligible.

"Just go ahead and make the application, and then we'll make that determination when we come out," he said.
The weatherization funds are distributed through a number of different agencies throughout the state. Residents can call 1-888-606-8889 from a landline telephone to be connected with the right one and file an application.
