"Reservation Day" for KRLD Restaurant Week Begins

    Three-course prix fixe dinners priced at $35/person are offered by participating restaurants. For every prix fixe meal purchased, the charitable restaurants will make a $7 donation to support the North Texas Food Bank in Dallas or Lena Pope Home in Fort Worth.

    Last year restaurant week helped raise more than $600,000 for the supported charity partners, according to the organization’s press release.

    “Dining Out’s a Good Deed, Helping Families in Need” happens August 15-21.

    Collin, Dallas, Denton and Tarrant counties are all represented this year. Some of the highlights include longtime supporters Abacus, Del Frisco’s and Stephan Pyles; newcomers like Tei-An and Nosh; and other popular establishments, including: III Forks, Al Biernat’s, Bijoux, Bonnell’s Restaurant, Brownstone, Fearing’s -- Ritz Carlton, Five Sixty by Wolfgang Puck, GRACE, Lonesome Dove Western Bistro, Parigi, Shinsei, The French Room -- The Adolphus, and The Mansion.

    “This is one of our most popular fundraisers since it enables diners to treat themselves while helping others, and encourages them to venture out and potentially discover new ‘go to’ establishments,” said Jan Pruitt, president and CEO, North Texas Food Bank.  “Giving back never tasted as good as it does each August.  Every meal consumed during this timeframe enables our organization to put food on the table for area children, families and seniors especially with summer being the hungriest time of the year.”

    To book a spot, call the desired establishment and request a “KRLD Restaurant Week” reservation, or make one online at KRLD.com (just follow the link to OpenTable).  Please be advised that popular places close out fast, smaller groups are easier to seat, and flexibility is appreciated. Off-peak evenings (i.e. Monday to Wednesday) are often less in demand.  Opting to dine out on a weeknight vs. a weekend may help ensure a prime table and time slot.  Plus, many restaurants will extend their participation by one or even two full weeks (through August 28 or even September 4) -- opening up additional seatings.  Take advantage of this great opportunity by trying out a new spot each night.
