Is Booze an Economic Indicator?

Shaun Ganji doesn't need an economist to tell him if the economy is getting better.

All he has to do is see what kind of booze his customers are buying.

"Two years ago was low end products. Cheaper product was selling," Ganji said, the owner of Beverage Depot. "This year is different. You see high end products selling more. Of course we're still selling low end but high end sales more because I guess people have the money."

Ganji says customers are buying more expensive bottles of alcohol, such as Grey Goose, Ciroc and Patron.

Ganji says the sales are better than in years past.

"I can't complain. Yes, we are doing better than the last two years," Ganji added.
