The Golden Local debate over the Best Summer Treat has come to an end with Dublin Dr Pepper with 53 percent of the votes on line.
Nearly 2,000 people voted for Dublin Dr Pepper and more than 500 left comments on the Golden Local winner.
Traci from Dublin said "Of course we won!! What a great accomplishment for our small town!"
And Dublin Dr Pepper is known nationwide. "We live in Tennesee and make it a point to buy Dublin Dr Pepper when we are in Texas. It is the best," said Deborah Ledgerwood.
Dr Pepper was born in 1885 when a Texas pharmacist invented a drink that tasted like a soda fountain smelled.
In 1891, bottling of the drink moved to Dublin, Texas.
Besides being the oldest Dr Pepper bottling plant in the world, Dublin Dr Pepper is made with the original formula, which calls for Imperial Pure Cane Sugar (instead of corn syrup).
Dr Pepper urges everyone to drink the "authentic blend of 23 flavors" three times daily at 10, 2, and 4.
As for competition, some posters pointed out that Dublin Dr Pepper and Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla ice cream is the perfect float during a hot summer day in Texas.
