The Hamburglar can only dream of such a haul. Well, except that he’s a fictional character, but that’s a different matter.
Pete MacGillis is quite real and so is, rather was, the 7-pound, 7,000-calorie burger he chowed down last week.
MacGillis, a 31-year-old Dallas resident, answered and met the challenge of eating the burger, called El Jefe, at Kenny's Burger Joint in Frisco. He became the only human so far to accomplish the questionable feat after 39 others tried and failed.
According to an article in the Dallas Morning News, El Jefe includes “a 3-pound beef patty topped with french fries, chili, queso, jalapeños, a half-pound of bacon, onions, pickles, lettuce, and tomato. It's all sandwiched between two giant slices of Texas toast made especially for the challenge.”
Besides a colossal case of indigestion, MacGillis earned a spot, the only spot, on the Wall of Fame in Kenny's Burger Joint and a $100 gift card to the restaurant, which would buy you two El Jefes should you fail to consume one in the allotted one hour.
Although he works for a mortgage company, MacGillis graduated with a degree in nutrition, and oh sweet irony.
No wonder he works for a mortgage company now.
