Central Market offers cooking classes for would-be chefs.
If you're looking for easy ways to add flair to your food, a cooking class at Central Market can help you.
“I started in cooking because I like to eat” says Chef Jeff Dietzman.
Pick any culinary cliché; Oil and vinegar, salt and pepper -- Dietzman is proof opposites impact.
“I am an engineer by day, chef by night” he says.
Dietzman got started in cooking after being unhappy with what he was putting on the table.
“I was tired of eating crappy food. Tired of paying for expensive food” Dietzman explains.
When he’s not working, you can find him on Central Market’s second floor in Fort Worth teaching cooking classes.
One course teaches you how to prepare filet minion with béarnaise, creamed spinach and roasted mushrooms.
Students like Micheal Deslatte say Dietzman is helping them master their own cooking kingdom.
“I had never done creamed spinach before today and it turned out a lot better than I would have anticipated creamed spinach turning out” Deslatte says.
“The key to not having it stick when you sear it is having a hot pan. You see how it is just starting to smoke then give it a shake,” a technique Dietzman demonstrated to his class.
“Like with everything else, if you’ll just season as you go.” One more tip from Dietzman everyone in the room is making note of.
“When we were looking for classes for my wife and we decided this was what we wanted to do so we could be able to cook too. We’re cooking the spinach and they’re up cooking the mushrooms” says Deslatte.
His wife Sarah learned as much as he did. “I thought it was all really really good. I want to go home and go cook now” says Deslatte.
