Iconic Candelite Inn Going to Auction

Arlington's iconic Candlelite Inn is going up for auction.

Bill Testa, the restaurant's current owner, had hoped to sell the restaurant and has had it on the market for five years.  On June 12, it will go to the highest bidder with a reserve set at $550,000.

Testa purchased the restaurant in 1993 from the original owner, Robert Keith, who opened the restaurant in Arlington in 1957 not far from the shiny, new General Motors plant down the road.

Over the next five decades, the restaurant would serve there eclectic mix of steaks, Tex-Mex and Italian food while becoming a staple in the Arlington restaurant scene.

Testa hopes someone can carry on the tradition for years to come.  But if not, you may want to get in for one last dinner while you can.

The Auction of an Icon

So, what's for sale?  The one-acre site, the mineral rights, the Candlelight name and business and furnishings in both buildings.

Potential owners should note the proximity to Cowboys Stadium. Testa told the Star-Telegram that his 108 parking spaces brought in an additional $30,000 in revenue last season.

Not included in the sale are the tabletop jukeboxes that are owned by a vendor, a soda fountain and a dishwasher.

The auction will be held at the restaurant, at 1202 E. Division Street on June 12.  Doors open at 3 p.m. and the auction begins at 4 p.m.

An open house will be held for interested parties on Sunday between 1 and 3 p.m.
