“Supergirl” Nastia Liukin to Launch Line

With her five gold medals, it's pretty easy to think of Plano's own Nastia Liukin as a superhero, but do you think she's D.C. Comics' Supergirl?

Liukin's new project is a line of clothing based on the "Supergirl" brand Warner Bros has extended to gymnastic events -- like the Nastia Liukin Supergirl Cup -- and an all-girl athletic competition and music festival called the Supergirl Jam.

The clothing line, designed for girls from 8 to 12, will be available at J.C. Penney stores just in time for the back-to-school rush and will feature the signature Supergirl "S" shield (it looks just like Superman's -- her cousin in the comics).

Promotional prices range from $11.99 to $21.99 for the t-shirts, knit pants, tunics, and other items in the line, including girls dance and gym wear. Go figure.

Expect to see many Liukin store visits as the launch date approaches, in between being the face for brands such as CoverGirl, AT&T, and Wheaties.
