Scenes From the 20th A-Kon in Dallas

Costumed fans, vendors, and lovers of Japanese media met for the 20th A-Kon in Dallas, May 29-31, 2009. Inside this furry creature is a very sweaty person. "That's got to be some big cockroach." Screens show which rooms in the Sheraton Hotel have A-Kon events. SNAAAAKE! We had to take a photo to make sure we weren't tripping out. Those are the biggest mushrooms we've seen since the '70s. Horns? Check. Bat Wings? Check. Cell phone to get instructions from evil overlord? Check. It's a female version of Team Fortress 2's Engineer! Build those dispensers, please! Is that tea or saki, Bleach fan? Two CCG players battle it out in an A-Kon gaming room. As you can tell, they're excited to be at A-Kon. Two Umbrella operatives are keeping people safe from swine flu...er...the T-Virus. A group of costumed fans dance in front of A-Kon 20 registration. Looks like we've got some Naruto fans... Crow and Tom Servo. They moved! Two costumed fans pose for the camera. Two costumed gamers relax and bust out the Nintendo DS. Three Pokemon trainers mug for photos. Vincent Valentine levels his gun at us. We weren't scared. By Sunday, some panel rooms were empty, but the vendor's room never was. Fans line up to enter the vendor's room on Sunday. This guy ain't afraid of no ghost. Looking cute is what some convention goers do best. This inked convention goer let us take her photo before stealing someone's blood. A-Kon 20's program showed events, panels, and maps of all the activities. It's a whole crew of Yu-Gi-Oh fans. We never knew there were so many. Who you gonna call?
