Chanel, Jean Paul Gaultier Trunk Shows

Drop your Friday plans immediately - you've got some shopping to do.

Two fashion heavies are in town today, with both Chanel and Jean Paul Gaultier hosting Fall 2011 trunk shows at Neiman Marcus Downtown and Forty Five Ten, respectively.

The collections are less than three weeks off their runway debut in Paris, and if you're a lover of haute couture, don't miss the chance to see their pieces in person. Standouts on Chanel's runway included their traditional tweed jackets in red, burgundy, and green that lent stark context to the largely noir show. Cap-sleeve gowns in pared down tweeds were also stunning, and the casual styling for Chanel - flat, rubber combat boots,  messy hair on the models - gave the show a rock-n-roll vibe.

Jean Paul Gaultier's runway included brights, rarely seen during the most recent Fall shows, and our favorites were the yellows and winter whites in the collection. Gaultier has been on the minds of Dallas girls since the Dallas Museum of Art announced his retrospective exhibit this November; get to Forty Five Ten immediately to select the perfect ensemble to wear to the opening.

Find the Chanel trunk show at Neiman Marcus' Downtown location, 1618 Main Street, or go check out Gaultier's collection at Forty Five Ten, 4510 McKinney Avenue. Both shows are available through the end of the day, and representatives from the labels will be on hand to answer any questions.
