Fashionista and Head Coach

Nancy Lieberman will wear Abi Ferrin on the sidelines this season

Nancy Lieberman, head coach of the Frisco-based Texas Legends, became the first woman in the NBA to ever hold that position when she was named to Dallas' Development League team. But Lieberman's unique resume credits extend well beyond the court; she's also an entrepreneur, author ("Playbook For Success" is in stores now), and full-time fashionista.

This season, she's taking to the floor in designs from local star, Abi Ferrin, and we can't think of a better collaboration since both women thoroughly represent Ferrin's famous tagline, "Fashion, Freedom, and Purpose."

"Abi is a very talented designer, but my attraction to her line also has a great deal to do with her philanthropic initiatives through her Freedom Project. It's rare to find such a talented artist with such a big heart for humanity," says Lieberman of how she chose her partner in polished style.

Ferrin is equally impressed with her new client, saying of Lieberman's on court presence, "She breaks the rules and looks good doing it!"

Expect to see Lieberman in Ferrin's signature jersey pieces; tunic and wrap tops in pretty, solid colors with interesting details like rucking or batwing sleeves are a definite.

"For Nancy's sideline attire, we chose a wardrobe that is conservative on first glance, but - once she sheds her jacket - has a bit of a twist. She needs to be able to move around, be comfortable, look the part, and yet stand alone with a strong individual style."

Ferrin and Lieberman can be confident that their collective mission has been accomplished. Lieberman's first win as head coach -- a three point victory over the Idaho Stampede -- found her looking stunning in an Abi Ferrin cognac wrap top embellished with a long necklace that created a covetable look.

It's a good thing Lieberman has been bolstering her wardrobe with Ferrin's finds because in addition to being one of the biggest stories in the NBA, she's focused on her must-read book, "Playbook For Success." Through her writing, she teaches women sports-inspired strategies that are equally effective in the corporate world. Most importantly, she promotes success as an attitude, belief, and way of life that includes much more than just a title or corner office.

In closing our interview, Ferrin summed up the creative partnership perfectly saying, "Fashion, freedom and purpose are defined by women who dare to color outside the lines. This is why I am so honored to have Nancy Lieberman wearing Abi Ferrin."
