Worth the Drive: Fall Festivals, Balloons and Oktoberfest

There are a few fun events going on around North Texas this weekend -- and all are Worth the Drive.

First up, country superstar Pat Green is headlining Lewisville's Western Days Festival. Aside from music, attendees can visit arts and crafts stands, see a gunfight re-enactment and even watch, or take part in, a tamale-eating contest. Yum.  Read more here.

Oktoberfest is under way in McKinney with authentic German music, traditional costumes, dancing, children's activities and more.  McKinney Oktoberfest is held in historic downtown McKinney through Saturday evening. See an event schedule here.

Out in Stephenville, both Friday and Saturday nights, find a cool spot in the grass to sit and watch hot air balloons glow in the nighttime sky. See a full schedule here. In addition to the glows, events are running all day including sky diving, vendor booths, food and live music.  One of the good things about this event, proceeds benefit the Erath County Veterans.

And finally, last but not least, Little Elm is welcoming fall with their annual Fall Festival. The family-friendly festival has arts & crafts, a 5k Fun run, a salsa contest, a barbecue cook-off and even a pretty baby contest. The festival runs through Sunday at Little Elm Park on El Dorado Parkway.  See more here.
