The 8th Annual Asian Film Festival of Dallas runs through tomorrow.

HIP HOP HURRAY: There's been no shortage of reps for DJ Yeahdef in this space, and we've mentioned Def Ash Wednesday once before. But Denton's best DJ was just christened the greater Dallas area's best DJ at the Dallas Observer Music Awards last night, and a trip to Hailey's to see why is in order. One dollar Lone Star drafts plead the case. 10PM.

EASTERN REELS: One Southwest premiere on the 8th Annual Asian Film Festival of Dallas sched is ideal for the easily distracted moviegoer. "Animation: The Illusion of Life" is a collection of 20 animated shorts, mostly under 5 minutes long. There's a parable about sacrificing honor to grow larger tomatoes, a micro-series of experimental animation based on piano music and a romantic comedy set on the Golden Gate Bridge. Landmark's Magnolia Theatre, 9:20PM.

DUST AND GLITTER: Jessica Lea Mayfield is the best news for the blues-folk tradition since fellow Ohioan Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys set out on his solo endeavor. The 19-year-old had help from Auerbach on her debut album, "With Blasphemy So Heartfelt," and the tender record's success has earned her mentions in The New York Times and Esquire. House of Blues, 7PM.
