What You're Doing This Weekend: May 9-10

BRING THE SUNSCREEN: A couple of years ago we got severely sun-burnt at Edgefest. Now, we're very careful about applying sunscreen when at an outdoor, all-day, music festival. If you've got your sunscreen and your tickets, then you'll be ready for Edgefest 19 on Saturday at Pizza Hut Park. Korn will be there, as will Edgefest mainstays Blue October and Papa Roach. Gates open at 11 a.m.

SEE C.K.: You might not know it, but Louis C.K. is one of today's most hilarious writers. Louis' credits include SNL, HBO's "Lucky Louie," as well as many appearances on Letterman and Conan -- so, yeah, you may have heard his stuff without knowing it. His stand-up will ring through the Lakewood Theater, Saturday at 8 p.m.

ALTER-NATIVES: The Paper Chase (or the pAper chAse, as they're sometimes known) plays the Granada on Saturday at 9 p.m. Not only are they Dallas-based, they're also one of the most interestingly noisy acts in the area. Take a listen to their MySpace before buying tickets, but buy them quick -- it should be a popular show.

MAMA DESERVES GOOD FOOD, PART 1: Chef Dean Fearing took our Annie Potasznik behind the scenes of his Mother's Day brunch menu a few weeks ago, showing off his smoked pecan-crusted Alaskan halibut on Texas rice pilaf with fried green tomatoes and piquillo pepper jam....drool. You can drool over the dishes, too, in our video segment...

MAMA DESERVES GOOD FOOD, PART 2: Blythe Beck shares her "naughty" menu items with mom during Central 214's Mother's Day brunch. Annie P. talked to Beck about her menu and new reality show -- catch that segment this Saturday right before SNL. If you're ready to show mom a "naughty" time, get whatever reservations are still left!
