Veterans Day Events and Activities in Dallas-Fort Worth

Many activities honoring our servicemen and women are scheduled for Veterans Day in North Texas. Parades, memorials, and special offers for veterans at local businesses show some of the public's support for our nation's heroes.

Veterans Day Parades
Dallas
NBC 5 invites you to come out and enjoy the 2013 Dallas Veterans Day Parade on Monday in Downtown Dallas.  Ceremonies will begin at 10:50 a.m. with an “Oath of Enlistment Ceremony” for over 150 enlistees from all services in front of Dallas City Hall. The ceremony will follow at 11 a.m. This year’s theme is: “Honoring the Veterans and POWs of Vietnam.” Click here to see the parade route.

Fort Worth
The City of Fort Worth is hosting their Veterans Day parade on Monday as well. The parade will begin around 10 a.m. and stages at the LaGrave Field parking lot at North 7th Street and Main Street. The parade route goes south on Main and around the downtown and Sundance Square area. Streets, including Houston and Main, will be closed starting at 9:30 a.m. Click here to see the parade route.

Veterans Day Memorials
Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery
The DFW National Cemetery holds remains of military members on a over 600-acre parcel of land that overlooks Mountain Creek Lake in Dallas. The cemetery will host a special Veterans Day ceremony at 3 p.m. on Nov. 11 and have flags placed on all the graves in the cemetery on that day.

Additional memorials may be hosted in various locations.

Features include a resume engine tool to transfer military experience into strengths civilian employers can understand, a job finder tool that includes jobs from the veteran's job bank, and information on small business creation, support for families, and a library of NBC News content on transitioning home.

Free Food
Military personnel and veterans with a military ID can get free food at many restaurants in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. The list includes Applebee's, Bennigan's, California Pizza Kitchen, Chili's Bar and Grill, Denny's, Golden Corral, Hooters, Olive Garden, On the Border, Shoney's, TGI Fridays and many, many more.
