    Runners lined up to finish registering for the 2012 Cowtown Marathon, the races Saturday and Sunday will bring thousands of runners to Fort Worth.

    Join NBC 5 and the tens of thousands of runners for The Cowtown Friday, February 24 through Sunday, February 26, 2012 at Will Rogers Memorial Center.

    The Cowtown is a 3-day event that is located in the heart of the Cultural District in Fort Worth. The Health & Fitness Expo will be held on Friday, February 24 and Saturday, February 25, at the Amon Carter Jr. Exhibits Hall. Now is the time to start training for the, Adults 5K, Kids 5K or the 10K, which will be held on Saturday, February 25. The Ultra, Marathon and UNTHSC Half Marathon will take place on Sunday, February 26.

    Take The Cowtown Challenge by running a 10K or 5K on Saturday and a marathon event on Sunday.

    The Cowtown benefits Children’s Activities for Life & Fitness, also known as CALF. The program gives grants to area children in order to help them offset the cost of their entry fee in addition to providing them with running shoes and training tools to help them be successful in their commitment to run in the 5K or 10K events.

    Volunteers are also needed to help along the route with cheer areas, water stations and entertainment to help the runners as they complete their goals. If you wish to volunteer, send an email to volunteer@cowtown.org.
