The State Fair of Texas is a little more than six-months away, and if you're already thinking about deep fried butter or that corny dog-induced coma you're planning to have in September you're not the only one.
(Yes, we used this opportunity to show off J.D. doing the fried butter boogie last year!)
Fair officials have revealed the theme for the 2010 State Fair of Texas and the winner is :::drumroll::: "Super Sized Fun."
Fair officials figure the theme is appropriate because we have a 52-foot tall Big Tex greeting visitors, the tallest Ferris Wheel in North America, the largest new car show in the southwest and who can forget the biggest college football rivalry around in the Red River Shootout between Texas and OU.
Whew, we thought they were referring to the super-sized waistlines after eating all that deep-fried fair food!
Sports will be super-sized this year. On top of the Red River Shootout and the annual State Fair Classic featuring Grambling vs. Prairie View, another football match-up will be featured with the Texas Tech Red Raiders and the Baylor Bears meeting at Cotton Bowl Stadium. There will also be another high-profile soccer match.
Mark your calendars, gates at Fair Park open Sept. 24 for the 2010 State Fair of Texas. The fair runs through Oct. 17.
