Alzheimer's disease is one form of dementia, which affects memory, thinking and behavior.
The Horizon Bay Vibrant Retirement Living community in Grand Prairie wants to help patients who suffer from the disease that gradually gets worse over time.
It will hold a Rock-A-Thon to raise money for the Alzheimer's Foundation of America this Wednesday, May 18 at 3 p.m.
Ten residents from the retirement community will “rock" in a rocking chair as long as possible.
Sponsored by donations or a dime-a-minute, the ‘rockers’ will then donate all their proceeds to the cause.
The event is part of the communities Fabulous Fifties celebration, which will feature servers on roller skates handing out shakes and sliders.
The general public is welcome to attend.
