There were plenty of fights before the Dallas Stars game Monday night in Dallas, but it was all for a good cause.

The Guns and Hoses exhibition boxing matches pitted police officers against firefighters in a ring in Victory Park outside the American Airlines Center.

The 8th Annual Guns and Hoses Boxing Tournament will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009 at the Resistol Arena in Mesquite. It will feature 16 bouts featuring police officers and firefighters from across North Texas. Competitors are matched by age, boxing experience and overall abilities.

General admission tickets sell for $15. The foundation raises money to provide financial assistance to the families of fallen North Texas firefighters and police officers. Through 2008 the event has raised more than $500,000.

The foundation is also letting folks vote for their favorite 2009 ring girl, with a Web site featuring photos of beauties vying for the title.

In all ten women were chosed to be ring girls and ramp girls for the November event. They are Alyssa M., Alyssa T., Brinkley, Kristin, Ashley, Jenna, Bethany, Courtney, Tracy and Kyleigh. Guns and Hoses hopes to update the Web site with new photos soon.
