    Ah, Beer brand beer. Delicious.

The largest dry town in DFW is getting cold brews and fine vintages in groceries and other stores this week.

Beer and wine sales in Irving were approved by a slim margin of voters in the November 2008, allowing businesses to apply for permits to sell beer/wine for off-premise consumption (i.e. take your six-pack home).

According to the City of Irving, 116 applications were filed since the vote passed, with 88 permits approved, 7 denied, and 21 still being reviewed.

Gary Huddleston, a Kroger director of consumer affairs, told the Dallas Morning News, "Many of our customers have wanted the convenience of buying beer and wine in a supermarket in Irving for a number of years." (read full article here)

Opponents of the new law will have to wait to try and make Irving dry again; the next election residents could vote to stop the flow of beer and wine is May 2010.
