Lights and trees and gourmet meals.  Live music, room service and a big, cozy bed.  All the festive trappings of a holiday vacation can be had right here in town – minus the holiday hassle.

Forgo long lines and expensive plane fare in favor of an exciting weekend in the city or a quiet country retreat.  Your choice, and with all the money you’ll save you could even upgrade to a luxury suite (or work in a little extra shopping).

Read on for our top stay-cation picks across the Metroplex and get ready for a very merry getaway:

Belmont Hotel
901 Fort Worth Ave., Dallas

1-800-951-2997

This Oak Cliff hipster fave is just moments from the bustling Bishop Arts District.  All rooms come with a garden or skyline view and Lather toiletries.  Visit brand-new Smoke Restaurant for breakfast, lunch or dinner and don’t miss Bar Belmont come cocktail time, either.

The Belmont is offering a special holiday rate through December 30th of $87 per night for a “standard classic” room.  New Year’s Eve rates are $200 per night and up, and the hotel will feature a concert that evening to ring in 2010.

Hotel St. Germain

2516 Maple Ave., Dallas
214-871-2516

For romance in the heart of Uptown, there’s nowhere like the St. Germain (pictured above).  From antique furniture and canopy beds to champagne at check-in, this boutique hotel pampers guests at every turn.  Choose from seven suites, ranging from $290 - $650 per night and enjoy gorgeous holiday decorations throughout the season.

For a special treat, the St. Germain’s Anniversary Party takes place on December 17th.  Open to the public as well as hotel guests, tickets are $95 and include festive beverages, a buffet and a preview of three newly redecorated rooms.

Iron Horse Inn
616 Thorp Spring Rd., Granbury
817-579-5535

“We go out of our way to make people welcome,” says Iron Horse owner Theresa Martin in her soft Irish brogue.  She and her husband Paul take pride in caring for their guests in this historic bed and breakfast.  Think cozy rooms, home cooked meals and small town attractions.

Two-night holiday packages are available at the Iron Horse for $445 and $545.  Theresa’s planning a Christmas dinner with turkey and all the trimmings and New Years Eve brings chocolate covered strawberries after the Granbury fireworks display.

NYLO Plano

8201 Preston Rd., Plano
972-624-6990

Featuring urban loft-style accommodations and modern décor, the NYLO Plano is minutes from the Dr. Pepper Ballpark, Pizza Hut Park and oodles of holiday shopping.  Rooms are quite affordable (especially if you plan ahead), including options under $100.

For a New Years to remember, the NYLO Plano is also offering a $299 package, which includes a night’s stay, buffet dinner and breakfast for two and two tickets to the hotel’s New Years Eve Bal Masqué.  But make a note - masks are required.

The Worthington

200 Main St., Fort Worth

817-870-1000

Sundance Square is right at your fingertips when you stay at the Renaissance Worthington.  Twelve floors of newly renovated rooms, an indoor pool and on-site Starbucks coffee are only the beginning.

Nearby restos like Taverna, Del Frisco’s and Riscky’s Barbeque, shopping and plenty of nightlife means you can tailor your trip to your individual tastes.  Explore deals on the hotel’s website like breakfast packages ($159-189), romance packages ($209-379) and more.

Hotel ZaZa
2332 Leonard St., Dallas
1-800-597-8399

Famous for concept suites like the Out of Africa and the Moulin Rouge, even regular guestrooms at Hotel ZaZa are something special.  Equally sumptuous is on-site Dragonfly Restaurant, featuring an extensive menu of inventive appetizers, seafood entrees and “the best steak in Dallas”.

Check out the Make Ours a Double and Z Squared packages, available through December 30th.  For New Years Eve, room rates start at $295 per night and suites range from $600 - $2500 per night.  New Years reservations also include tickets to the ZaZa’s Roaring 20’s party.
