For most of us, the chances of catching a charter flight this afternoon to Miami and picking up courtside tickets at will-call are about nil. Maybe worse.
That’s OK, though. Miami sucks. OH! Yes I did.
So, anyway, what to do, where to be at 8 p.m. when Game 1 of NBA Finals between the home team Miami Heat and Your Dallas Mavericks tips off?
Sure, you can watch at home but where’s the fun in that? Join in a little, or a lot, of crowd noise.
Neighborhood bars better have the game on hi-def big screens if they want to attract more than about three people tonight. Far as I know, the Granada and Angelika theaters in East Dallas — and I’d think Lakewood Theater but I don’t see it on the calendar and they’re not answering the phone — will show the game for free on really big screens.
The most game-like action might be the quasi-official watching party at American Airlines Center sponsored by Budweiser. Ehn, good game, bad beer. The give and take of life.

East and north doors open at 7 p.m., parking’s available for $5 at lots E and F — $10 for Platinum parking, and two souvenir shops will be open, of course, for a near-game-in-the-house experience.
Oh, and the Mavs Dancers, ManiAACs, Street Team, Ali Dee, and Ro Parrish will shake and do their respective things to fire up the atmosphere.
