July 14th, or Le Quatorze Juillet, is a big deal in France. Bastille Day, a national holiday celebrated in grand fashion, marks the anniversary of the storming of the Bastille prison in 1789.
But you don’t have to jump on a jet to join the fête this year. Oak Cliff’s Bishop Arts District will host its own Bastille Day celebration tonight, benefitting Alliance Française of Dallas.
Headlining the event is a street-side Mussels Competition with top local chefs including Marc Cassel of Park, Michelle Carpenter of ZEN Sushi and Bolsa’s Graham Dodds. This propane-fueled three-round competition is sure to heat things up!
Additional attractions include a wine walk, a Vespa rally, pétanque demonstrations and something called a “French Maid Relay”. Zut alors!
The party starts at 6 p.m., so grab your beret and click here for all the details.
