With many school districts giving kids the entire week off for the Thanksgiving holiday, heavy traffic is expected around the Dallas Zoo this week.

On Tuesday, the zoo will hold its annual Dollar Day, with special deals on food and gifts, as well as $1 admission. Admission is normally $9 for children and $12 for adults.

Admission is free for guests age 2 and younger and for those who are DZS members.

Zoo officials are encouraging people to take DART's Red Line to the zoo to avoid traffic. For those who drive, parking is $7.
