Dita Von Teese Does Dallas

International pinup star to perform

International pinup star and burlesque performer Dita Von Teese is in Dallas. The petite power house is in town to introduce her latest namesake cocktail, the Cointreau MargaDita, at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek Wednesday evening.

“It’s got this like luscious, round feminine perfume but also that little like -- smack -- like a little crack of the whip at the end… it reminds who's in charge,” said Von Teese of the spicy, rosy intoxicant.

For fans who really want to be reminded of “who’s in charge,” Von Teese will perform her "Burlesque: Strip Strip Hooray!" Variety Show in concert at House of Blues Thursday. The 90-minute show features Von Teese performing her “Rhinestone Cowgirl” routine and new Swarovski Martini Glass act.

Crowds can expect a stylized performance reminiscent of the old world glamour of Sally Rand from Von Teese, who is known to exercise in full makeup and coiffed retro do. Her look isn’t an act. She is often described as a living doll of sorts, who eschews the thought of paparazzi catching her looking anything “less than” diva.

Von Teese, born Heather Sweet, enjoys shopping at Highland Park Village when in town. No doubt what Dallas needs -- another diva. This one at least, is the real deal.

Drink It:
Cointreau MargaDita
1 oz Cointreau
1 oz Silver Tequila
1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
1/2 oz Monin Rose Syrup
1 pinch Chipotle Spice

Mix all ingredients into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.  Shake vigorously and pour into a chilled coup glass.  Garnish with floating organic yellow rose petals.  For an added kick, add a chipotle and salt rim.
