Weekend Deals & Discounts: Sledding, Tree Lightings

In tough economic times, frugal shoppers are looking for deals and smart business owners are giving them.  Here are a few deals we've found for  this weekend.

WEEKEND DEALS

Farmers Branch Tour of Lights is under way and the tree lighting will take place Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Farmers Branch Historical Park. The event will feature a fireworks show, snow tubing, visits with Santa, tours of historical structures, the Dallas Puppet Theatre and Radio Disney. Revelers will be treated to complimentary cookies, punch and hot chocolate. Gates open at 6. The event is free and open to the public.  More info here.

Check out Sundance Square on Sunday at 2 p.m. when Ballet Folklorico de Fort Worth puts on a show just a few feet from the Fort Worth Christmas Tree.   See Sundance Square's full calendar of events for this holiday season here.

Also on Sunday, head over to Fair Park to see the lighting of Dallas' Christmas Tree.  Gates open at 3 p.m. and the Dallas Wind Symphony Quintet will perform at 4:30.  The tree lighting and a special "Bellagio-style" fountain show will take place on the Esplanade closer to dusk.  Find out more here.

Saturdays and Sundays at 11:45 a.m. and 4:15 p.m., The Legends of Texas Gunfight Shows take place at Stockyards Station in Fort Worth. The shows are free and attendees can learn about about the history of this part of North Texas between 1835 and the early 1900s. 

MONDAY DEALS

Dunkin' Donuts is offering a medium coffee for only $.25 every Monday through the NFL season.  The offer is good at most participating DFW locations from open to noon. Additionally, customers can redeem their Cowboys game ticket stubs at any Dunkin’ Donuts location to receive a free medium hot coffee on weekdays after every home game.

WEDNESDAY DEALS

Volunteers with the Dallas Bar Association will answer questions about divorce, child support, wills, insurance, criminal law and more each Wednesday between 5:30 p.m. and 8 p.m.  There is no cost ... call 214-220-7476.

Enjoy a free game of bowling at the Allen Bowl on Greenville Avenue.  The offer is good through the end of the year, though you will need to print out a coupon to receive your free game.  You can get the coupon here.

Dos Pericos Mexican restaurant and cantina in Lake Worth offers all you can eat enchiladas (beef, chicken and cheese) plus rice and beans for only $6.99.

The Core Golf School at Chase Oaks in Allen is offering golf lessons for half price on Wednesdays as well as the ability to bring a friend along for free through the end of the year. OTHER DEALS
