While it was not an "official" inaugural ball, the House of Blues in Dallas hosted its own celebration, complete with black ties, a red carpet and lots of people who felt like celebrating.
"I even bought my Barack Obama cuff links in honor of this," partygoer Dallas Smith said.
Hundreds danced the night away to three bands playing songs such as "Good Times."
"This is the next best thing to being in D.C.," Little Elm's Lenora Beyah said.
While most of the partygoers said they would have preferred to be in Washington to witness history firsthand, they enjoyed celebrating the historic event among a crowd who shared their enthusiasm.
"I actually feel like I am in Washington, D.C., at the inaugural ball," Dallas' Felicia Bryant said. "Seeing everyone dressed up and everyone hugging each other -- this is what God meant for us to do as Americans."
Presidential supporters described the party as a perfect ending to a truly historic day.
