Dallas Couple Gives $5 Million to Duke University Museum

Nasher, Haemisegger make large donation to expand art collection

A couple is giving a Duke University art museum $5 million to expand its collection of modern art and to attract visiting scholars.

The school announced Wednesday that Nancy A. Nasher and her husband David J. Haemisegger are providing the money for the Nasher Museum of Art.

The school says four million will be used to support the purchase of modern and contemporary art. The remaining $1 million will be used to bring in scholars to organize special exhibits and projects.

Nancy's father, Raymond Nasher, founded the museum, built in 2005. He was a 1943 graduate of Duke and died five years ago.

She and Haemisegger are co-owners and developers of NorthPark Center in Dallas, one of the five most successful shopping centers in the United States
