The Fort Worth night sky burns bright with holiday cheer thanks to Chesapeake Energy.
The natural gas company recently decked its halls in holiday lights — big ones, too — that can be seen from just about all points Cowtown, particularly the 1,000-watt babies, 68 of them, atop Chesapeake Plaza. The 107 trees on the campus grounds also blaze with red, green, and blue because they are wrapped roots to crowns by a total of 672,000 rainbow-hued lights.
Sound impressive? Go see for yourself.
The plaza grounds are open to the public every night, now through the end of the month-year, from dusk ‘til … well, whenever security tells you to leave.
Take a picnic basket and make an evening of it. Take a tent and sleeping bag and make a night of it. You might want to take bail money, too, if you opt for that second, um, option.

The lights wrapping the trees, according to a company spokesman, are the energy-efficient type, probably the curly ones. The 68 1,000-watt blinders, though, are your run-of-the-mill conventional old bulbs … only they’re 1,000 watts.
So go, see, enjoy, because nothing says holidays like a little corporate excess.
