Canines Compete to be Top Dog

Canine athletes from around the world compete in Fort Worth

The fur will fly on Saturday and Sunday as over 100 of the worldโ€™s best canine athletes compete in the 2012 IFCS World Agility Championship at the Will Rogers Memorial Center.

With the 2012 Olympics quickly approaching, itโ€™s important to remember that humans are not the only competitive creatures.

Dogs from 12 different countries began competing on Thursday in a battle to become the IFCS World Champion. Make no bones about it: the competition is fierce!

The dogs, along with their human handlers, maneuver through courses averaging one-hundred-eighty yards in forty seconds or less. Points are awarded individually and as a team, and are based on skill, speed, accuracy, and strategy.

The tail-wagging action begins at 9 a.m. each day.  Admission is $5 for adults and parking is an additional $5.

Will Rogers Memorial Center is located at 3401 W. Lancaster Ave. in Fort Worth.

More event details can be found on IFCSโ€™s website.
