Babies Get First Library Card

Arlington sends newborns home with first library card

As part of an effort to promote reading from day one, families having a newborn at Arlington Memorial Hospital will be sent home with a library card, books, and literacy-related material.

According to the Arlington Public Library website, My First Library Card is intended for children under three as a means of introducing young children to the culture of print, song, rhyme, and story.

Children over three can have a parent apply for a GOcard, a specially designed program for elementary age children.

Arlington parents may apply for the library cards online or at their local public library.
