UPTOWN COOL: Often times heading into Uptown Dallas can feel like you’re entering another city with all the class, charm and artistic appeal. Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. it’s the third annual All About Uptown Festival celebrating that the swanky style of Uptown entertainment. The outdoor festival taking place on Fairmount St. between McKinney Ave. and Cedar Springs, features food, live musical performances, trolley rides, historic home tours, chef demonstrations (plus delicious samples), and tons of creative art vendors. Oh, and did we mention that it’s free to attend? Yep, so let your inner art child explore Uptown Saturday.
DON’T FORGET THE SPURS: This Saturday, if you crave something a bit more laid back with a dash of country head to Lewisville for the Western Days Festival. The “Old West” comes alive in Old Town Lewisville complete with gunfight re-enactments and a longhorn cattle drive. Witness the national tamale-eating championship and take a peek at some of the country favorite arts and crafts with live country music all day long. The whole family can go country with children’s activities including a petting zoo, play area, and face painters. The best part of it all – it’s free. Saturday is the second day of the Western Days and the events last from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
ROARING TWENTIES IN 2010: Put on a sparkly headband, dig up a flapper like ensemble and get ready to flap it up! The second annual 2010 Great Gatsby party benefitting the AIDS Interfaith Network is happening on Sunday at Union Station from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m. The event will be catered by Wolfgang Puck Catering. Purchase tickets for the “Get Your Flap On!” afternoon at the door and feel like a flapper for the day, all for a good a cause.
