9/12-13: Keep on Chuggin'

TOOT, TOOT: Pull on that conductor's cap and sound the whistle, the DART Green Line's come to Fair Park! At least, that's where the Museum of the American Railroad is going with the king of convenience's debut. Browse old steam whistles and commemorate with arts and crafts Saturday from 10AM-5PM. See more on the Green Line's arrival, including footage of Fair Park's last rail service -- in the '50s -- at Unfair Park.

DELICIOUS TITLES: Did Julie and Julia leave you hungry for an early edition of Mastering the Art of French Cooking? There'll be more than 1,500 cookbooks to rake through at Lakewood's Libraryfest, with many from the 1950s-70s. A party scored live by folk and roots musicians is planned to boost the book sale, and all proceeds go to the Dallas Public Library's Lakewood Branch. Saturday, 9AM-4PM.

IN THE BAG: Burgers and beer. Bruschetta and wine. Theater Fire, The Deathray Davies, and The Happy Bullets. Oh, and it's all to mark Bolsa's first year of keeping Oak Cliff fresh and friendly. We really shouldn't have to say any more to get you perked up about Bolsaveursary, but we will anyway. Sunday, 4PM.
