8/4: A Diddy, Drink And Dance

There are varying levels of tough. Choose one - we don't judge

GIVE 'EM EACH A BUCK: Doug Burr is easily one of the most underrated, underappreciated songwriters in this city. Come to think of it so is Glen Farris and Danny Balis Maybe putting them all together is the key to helping them rise above. Tonight at Dan's Silverleaf these three singer/songwriters (that are all a little bit country, a little bit rock and roll) will get together to swap songs and share stories. Although Farris has been Burr's right hand man for years now, all three have their own take of Americana, both lyrically and musically. A not to be missed night...especially for three bucks.

THE BELLINI - A MAN'S DRINK: Although Tony Soprano might balk at it, a free bellini is a free drink...so if you go to Dakota's and you end up with a free bellini because you ordered an entree, you better drink it. And like it. Dakota's was established in 1984 and has been a downtown Dallas dining icon for over 25 years. Dakota's unique underground location has an interesting story behind it. It is located one level below street level on a section of real estate that was once occupied by the First Baptist Church of Dallas. There is a legally binding clause in the deed that prohibits any future owner from selling alcohol on former church grounds. Because "on the grounds" and "below ground" are two different terms, and because Lincoln Property Company wanted a restaurant to anchor their international headquarters, land was excavated and the restaurant was placed 18 feet below street grade. So raise your bellini to the trouble people will go through to have a bellini.

SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE: After touring over 100 cities on five continents, Shen Yun Performing Arts comes to Fort Worth's Bass Hall for a spectacular, original production of Chinese dance and music. This is  your chance to experience the show that has left millions in awe.
