8/27: Beatle Mania and Dramedy Doo Daa

Enjoy a Beatles tribute, Storytime Live, and dance under the blue moon

FAIRY-TALE FRIDAY: Maybe not fairy, but definitely tales perfect for preschoolers. Nickeloden presents a musical adventure-filled weekend with Storytime Live! This live show is not your average children’s play. Storytime Live! brings some character favorites from your television set to the stage including, “Dora the Explorer,” “The Backyardigans,” “NiHao, Kai-lan,” and “WonderPets!” And, upon entering the wonderful world of make believe, hosts Moose and Zee welcome and guide you through this musical wonderland. Grab the whole family and head to the Verizon Theater tonight, the show starts at 7 p.m. and runs all weekend long.

LET IT BE...A TRIBUTE: They say imitation is the greatest form of flattery, but when it’s a band known for covering legendary Beatles songs, it’s a tribute all in a day’s work. A Hard Night’s Day (the band, not the actual Beatle album) call Dallas home, yet, for the past 13 years have been spreading “Yellow Submarine” happiness all over the globe for Beatle fans to enjoy. You may not get a clear view of John, Paul, George or Ringo tonight, but the lyrics they once sang shall be heard on stage by not-to-shabby look-alikes. Catch A Hard Night’s Day live at the Granada Theater at 7 p.m.

A DRAMEDY PREMIERE: What’s a comedy without a little bit of drama? The juicy dirt is what makes it interesting anyway. Well, tonight The Contemporary Theatre of Dallas presents The Blue Moon Dancing, a new play written by Ed Graczyk, takes place in a dance hall outside of west Texas. From the wide array of strange events (including the face of Jesus on the ceiling) to the lively personalities inside the “Moon” – oh, and Elvis, this play is a new comedy that is anything but dull. The show goes on at 8 p.m. tonight.
